The 2012 New England Real Ale eXhibition was a great success on all fronts. We served more beer, ciders, and mead to more people in a hall with more space than ever before. Accordingly, we are pleased to announce that NERAX will return to the Somerville American Legion Hall Post 388, on March 20-23, 2013.

Friday evening everyone at the door was inside within a short time after the doors opened promptly at 6:00 p.m. You could walk right in to be greeted by 61 beers and ciders, 37 American and 24 British. The Reaper started out by taking the Marshall Wharf Cant Dog Imperial IPA, and brought down several more beers over the course of the evening. After we closed, the cellar team leapt into action. We had firkins to remove, firkins to carry in, beers to vent so they'll be ready to tap today.

Thursday evening we welcomed more cask lovers to our new hall at the Somerville American Legion Hall Post 388 with 58 beers, ciders, and mead. 30 were from the U.S. and 28 from the U.K. The list included the five beers from Day of the Living Nanos. Also the Reaper made his first appearance, taking down Mallinson's Galaxy from the board.

We opened Wednesday evening with 37 beers, ciders, and mead. 17 were from the UK, 20 from the US. Shortly after the doors opened at 6 pm, the crowd were all inside and enjoying the space in Somerville American Legion Hall Post 388. Some of the beverages of note were the Utopian mead, the Gwynt Y Ddraid Black Dragon cider, Hambleton Nightmare Porter, Moat Mountain Boneshaker Brown, Adnams Bitter, and Mallinsons Galaxy.

Setup for NERAX 2012 began Monday in the Somerville American Legion Hall Post 388. Brewers dropped off their beers, volunteers helped put the bar together, the cellar team settled firkins on the stillage, and more work went on to bring you our festival of cask-conditioned beers from New England, Great Britain, and beyond. Ciders and mead are in their own section at the end of the bar, along with the beers from the small, young breweries to be celebrated Thursday afternoon on Day of the Living Nanos.
