CASC has an open membership consisting of professional brewers, publicans, home brewers, and beer lovers who volunteer their time to plan and execute real ale events. Proceeds from each event are invested in maintaining and upgrading our equipment, educating the public, and starting the next event. The main events are the annual New England Real Ale Exhibitions (NERAX) in the spring, Cask @ Novare in early fall, and NERAX North in mid-November. All our festivals feature open tastings of real ales collected from the UK and the US. CASC also participates in other beer festivals in the region.

In addition to the open tastings, our festivals include educational sessions, cellaring workshops, and brewer's symposiums featuring experts from Britain and the US explaining the technology used in producing fine real ales. This outreach is crucial for the spread of cask-conditioned ales in our area. We sponsor an annual cellarman apprenticeship. Members of CASC also coordinate sending the best American real ales to the Great British Beer Festival.
